THE SUMMER EMPTY NEST

June 25th, 2008 | 0 Comments

Only a few students remain on campus, who are helping do final cleaning and maintenance before departing for summer break. They will leave this weekend. Our other two American missionary couples are mostly gone back to America to raise financial support, as we all must do. Angie Waltrip returned on June 16, and Benson & Cathy Vaughan left June 24. Blayne Waltrip is in Slovakia attending a meeting this week, but he will rejoin Angie in America on June 30. That just leaves us. We will return home for fundraising on August 1. We had a group of ETS students visit Macedonia for ministry last week, and they are now gone as well.  Please pray for all of us itinerating this summer to raise support, as well as for the students doing various practicum ministry work in Europe, Africa, and even the USA.

Böblingen Service

June 25th, 2008 | 0 Comments

Carol and I traveled to Böblingen for church on Sunday, June 22. We visited this church in early February, and were invited to return to preach. Two ETS graduates, Cornelius and Priscilla, serve on staff there. Cornelius translated for my sermon. God’s presence was very powerful throughout the whole service, and many filled the altar area for prayer at the end. The altar service itself lasted an hour. We praise God for how He is moving in Germany.

Father’s Day Ministry

June 17th, 2008 | 0 Comments

Sunday, June 15, was Father’s Day in America, but not in Germany. Nevertheless, it was a good day where Carol and I drove to preach in the town of Ohlsbach. This is the home church of four of our students. The fathersday.jpg service went well, with one of the first year ETS students, Gregor Dilger, translating for my preaching for the first time. He did very well, and many responded for prayer at the conclusion of the message. Afterwards we had lunch with the ETS students from there, and that made Father’s Day special for me.

SEMESTER ENDS

lastday.jpg The final exam week brought the second semester to a close on June 13. During the final chapel service, the faculty and staff were the worship team. Usually the students do such ministry. Carol was part of the singers. Our president, Paul Schmidgall, preached. It was a great semester for which we thank God. The students go out to do summer ministry and practicums, some even leaving for Macedonia next week. Thank you for your prayers over the past school year.

OBERKIRCH SERVICE

June 11th, 2008 | 0 Comments

On Sunday, June 8, we drove to Oberkirch for a church service at a church where several ETS students attend and do internship ministry. I preached with ETS student (and my secretary), Rosalie Suarez, translating, and God was good in blessing the prayer time. Five other ETS students were there, all from the first-year class that Carol & I advise: Gregor & Regine Dilger, Christian Montaner, Andreus Parussis, and Dorina Naros. We enjoyed a barbeque lunch at the home of Gregor’s parents. It was a good day in Jesus.

FAREWELL CHAPEL

June 5th, 2008 | 0 Comments

The students who will be leaving ETS presented the chapel service on Wednesday, June 4. It is always with mixed emotions such events occur. We are a small school and grow close as a school family, and we will greatly miss the ones not returning. We are also joyful to see them go out from the school and fulfill the call of God on their lives.  Eighteen third-year students are finished with class requirements and will do their fourth year internship. One second-year student and two first-year students will also not return. Final exams will occur next week, and school will conclude on June 13.

Music Evening 2008

June 4th, 2008 | 0 Comments

Tuesday, June 3, was this year’s ETS Music Evening. The voice and instrumental students of Benson Vaughan came together for a recital, but one that was actually their Final Exams. Despite that pressure, we really enjoyed the variety and talent with which God has blessed the students.  It is refreshing to see young people serving God.

A Month of Preaching

June 4th, 2008 | 0 Comments

June 1 was the first service of five Sundays I will preach in June at three different churches. We were in Crossroads International Church, the local church that meets in Kniebis. There was a wonderful conclusion to the service with many seeking God in the altar area. There is a desire for God and revival in this area, and God is certainly searching hearts. All glory to Him!

Family Night

June 4th, 2008 | 0 Comments

The third level students planned a very enjoyable family night for the ETS Family on May 30. 14 teams were made from 4 students and a faculty member to compete in a version of a “scavenger hunt” of collecting information and clues by visiting locations manned by students imitating the faculty and staff. Tina Drotleff did a great job of imitating Rodney, and Andrea Wangler the same for Carol. It ended with singing, food, and good fellowship around a campfire.
