German Ministers Training

The ILD, German ministerial internship program, has a group of eight students that currently meet at the seminary on Saturday each month. On Jan. 19, I began a three month course with them on the Pastoral Epistles. This will continue in February and March. I enjoy working with MIP and have done so many years in various places. Not all people are able to attend a seminary like ETS, but still have a call from God for ministry and desire more training. It is a blessing to be with them as well as the seminary students.
The first semester has continued with weeks filled with much work for students and faculty alike. Many exegesis papers for Christian ethics, hermeneutics, and Pastoral Epistles are being finished and submitted, and then these must be translated from German and graded. This occupies much time right now. The ETS choir, led by fellow missionary Benson Vaughan, sang beautifully in the Freudenstadt state church as part of an evangelical alliance meeting on Jan. 13. Carol was a part of this choir. The semester has classes continuing through Feb. 1, and then a week of final exams will follow. Please pray for all of us during these busy days.
This year we had a real international Christmas. On Christmas Eve we spent the evening with a German family after the afternoon worship service. On Christmas Day we enjoyed an evening with another American missionary family, the Vaughans. On Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, we fellowshiped with an English family. During the break from seminary classes, we have worked most days preparing for Spring semester classes and doing library work. Classes begin again on January 7.
