Moving Out

August 17th, 2007 | 0 Comments

rodbox.jpgAfter raising our support since last September, August 14 was a special day for us. Our shipment to our new home in Germany was picked up and we will not see it again until we are in Europe. We will leave Tennessee on August 26, and head for Florida. We will stay there with our son, Daniel, until our flight departs September 9 for Germany. We appreciate the help that Calvin Wood and Danny Johnson gave us in getting the shipment sent off. These brothers do an outstanding job at the mail room at Church of God World Missions.

Brief Family Reunion

img_0477.jpgWe traveled to Clearwater, FL, on August 3 – 6, for a gathering at Rodney’s parents of the Friends. It was the first time in seven years that all four sons were present at the same time with Rodney’s parents (Rodney, TN; Jeff, FL; Randy, TX; Daryl, FL). Bidding farewell to family is very much a part of being missionaries. We were able to see our son, Daniel, while there. Also present were the wives: Carol, Nancy, and Lexa, and Randy’s children, Brady & Megan. The only ones missing were our daughter, Leslie, and her new husband, James (Maine).

Mountain View

img_0462.jpgWe attended Mountain View Church of God in Cleveland, TN, on Sunday morning, July 29, after meeting the pastor’s friendly wife while attending missions orientation. She is one of the receptionists at headquarters. Pastor Fred Mercer asked us to come back that evening to share our missions story. Missions Representative Ben McGlamery was there as well and sang a lovely song. Pastor Mercer has pastored over 40 years, but took this church to pastor 10 years ago instead of just retiring. Mountain View is growing under his fine leadership. We appreciate the church’s support.

Missions Orientation

August 1st, 2007 | 0 Comments

A three-day orientation at Church of God headquarters in Cleveland, TN, was held July 25-27. New and itinerating missionaries gathered with World Missions staff to cover many important topics related to living overseas. The fellowship and unity was wonderful. Although this is our third appointment as career missionaries, we learned much and benefited from the orientation.
